Mark King is a former minor league professional basketball
player. A native of Inkster, MI, King attended Pikeville College
in Pikeville, KY as a walk-on freshman basketball player in
1996. In 2001, he was a member of Pikeville College's first
ever Men's NAIA Final Four team.
After college, King squeezed his way through a free agent
camp to manage and play for the Orlando Aces of the
American Basketball Association (ABA). In 2007-2008, he
earned a spot with the East Kentucky Miners of the
Continental Basketball Association (CBA). On March 2, 2008,
he was a part of the largest scoring output in American
professional basketball history (sanctioned by US Basketball),
contributing 5 of the 194 points scored by the East Kentucky
Miners in his CBA debut.
Desiring to forego the heavy travel involved with playing
away from home, King redirected his attention towards TCOB -
The Cross Over Basketball, an online Christian basketball
ministry outlet. In 2009, he and his partners created the
Florida Flight - the first Christian-themed minor league
basketball team in the United States.
King graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Religion from Pikeville College. He will complete a Masters
Degree in Organizational Leadership from Palm Beach Atlantic
University in 2011, and is currently pursuing a Master of
Divinity Degree from Asbury Theological Seminary – Orlando.
"My goal is to inspire others to trust the talent and ambition
that God innately placed within each of us. The Florida Flight
will be an extension of that goal."
He and his wife are the proud parents of one, and reside in
the beautiful Avalon Lakes area of East Orlando.
